Bone Density – Body Composition Analysis, DEXA
Bone Density and Body Composition Measurement System
Elpis Clinic has installed the new ExcellusFanBeam digital bone densitometry system, a latest-generation device by Osteosys, with scan times of just 8 seconds. The system provides a modern and safe bone density and bone mass measurement using the DEXA method (dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry).
Advantages of bone density measurement with DEXA
DEXA delivers reliable and quantitative results, tailored to parameters such as: αποτελέσματα, προσαρμοσμένα σε παραμέτρους όπως:
- Age, sex, and body weight.
- Distribution of bone mass throughout the body.
- Individuals on long-term medication (e.g., corticosteroids).
Recommended for:
- Prevention and monitoring of osteopenia or osteoporosis.
- Individuals with a history of fractures or hormonal disorders.
- Postmenopausal women.
- Individuals on long-term medication (e.g., corticosteroids).
The ExcellusFanBeam by Osteosys features measurement protocols for:
- Lumbar spine
- Lateral lumbar spine
- Hips
- Forearm
- Orthopedic program for bone density assessment in cases of joint replacement
- Pediatric program for ages 6 and above
- 10-year fracture risk assessment
It is fully equipped with DICOM and PACS capabilities for storing, printing, and transferring medical data. It features a rotating arm, and the examination bed can also be used for ultrasound examinations. Body Composition Analysis (Lipometry): The DEXA method is the most reliable approach for body composition analysis and body fat measurement. This examination allows measurement of body fat, lean tissue (muscles, water, connective tissue), total bone weight, as well as an objective assessment of fat distribution throughout the body. Advantages of Body Composition Analysis with DEXA:
- Precise analysis of fat tissue in every region of the body.
- Assessment of muscle atrophy following injury or illness.
- Monitoring the progression of muscle and fat tissue.
- Determination of ideal weight and metabolic rate for personalized nutrition.
- Targeted exercise programs, particularly for athletes.
