Cardiology

Global Longitudinal Strain (GLS)

An advanced technique for measuring myocardial longitudinal deformation using the GE Vivid E95. It enables early detection of cardiac dysfunction before symptoms appear, and is particularly valuable for cardio-oncology patients.

Indications:
  • Early detection of chemotherapy-induced cardiotoxicity
  • Monitoring of patients with heart failure
  • Assessment of subclinical cardiac dysfunction
  • Risk stratification in cardiac disease
  • Screening of high-performance athletes
Advantages:
  • Detects myocardial damage prior to a reduction in ejection fraction
  • High prognostic value
  • Guides therapeutic decision-making
  • Non-invasive, repeatable examination
Examination Procedure:

The test is performed during a standard cardiac echocardiogram using specialized analysis software integrated into the GE Vivid E95, which measures the microscopic deformation of myocardial fibers.
